The Masoor Dal curry (Lentil Soup)

Masoor Dal ( Lentil Soup)



The Masoor Dal Curry ( lentil soup) is a delicious vegeterian food which is very healthy. It can be served as a soup or as a curry along with roti/ chapathi/ basmati rice.

Ingredients

1 To pressure cook
  • 3/4 cup masoor dal
  • 1/2 tsp asafoetida powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp fennel seed powdered
  • 1/4 tsp cumin seed powdered
  • 2 cups water
  • to taste salt
2 To Garnish
  • 1 number slitted green chilli pepper
  • 2 numbers chopped tomato
  • 1 tsp chopped ginger
  • 2 tsps chopped garlic
  • 1 number diced onions
  • 2 tsps chopped coriander leaves
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1/4 tsp cumin powder
  • 2 tbsps sunflower oil
  • 2 numbers clove
  • 2 numbers cardamom
  • 1 number cinnamon stick
  • to taste salt
Procedure
  1. Wash the dal . Add the ingredients 1  to pressure cooker. Keep it in medium flame.
  2. After the first whistle, keep for another 8 minutes in low flame. Switch it off and wait until the full pressure is released.
  3. Meanwhile, you can prepare the garnish.
  4. First, put the pan on the stove. Pour oil. When hot, add clove , cardamom, cinnamon, onion, garlic, ginger, chilli.
  5. Saute it until onion turn transparent and soft. Add the Masala mix and stir till the aroma of the masala comes out.
  6. To it add the tomatoes, stir until it is soft and the juices evapourate.
  7. Add a pinch of salt. Note that you have already added salt in pressure cooked ingredients. So add salt accordingly.
  8. To the pressure cooked dal, add the garnish and bring it to boil. Add coriander leaves.
  9. Now it is ready to be served. It goes well with Chapathi/roti/basmati rice.

Chicken Green Salad


A salad is a good filling for your tummy. Give it a try and enjoy.

Ingredients
  • 10 numbers cherry tomato
  • 10 numbers baby carrot
  • 1 number cucumber diced
  • 5 numbers lettuce leaves
  • 2 numbers roasted chicken breasts cubed
  • 1 slice wholemeal bread
  • 1 tbsp of melted butter
  • 1 passionfruit pulp
Procedure
  1. Take the bread slice and cut in small cubes. Drizzle the butter over the bread cubes.
  2. Place in the preheated oven at 180deg C for 10 min. Croutons are ready.
  3. Toss all ingredients together. Mix in the passion fruit pulp to the salad.

Veg Thai Green Curry with Bok Choy

This is a dish cooked in thick coconut gravy. Its a variant of stew. The main ingredient is the green curry paste which enhances the taste.

Veg Thai Green Curry with Bok Choy
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 10 minutes
Serves : 4

Ingredients
  • bunch of bok choy
  • 3 numbers of portobello mushroom
  • 1 potato diced into small
  • 1 tsp light soy sauce
  • 1.5 cups of coconut milk
  • to taste Salt
Green curry paste
  • 1 tbsp chopped ginger
  • 1 tbsp garlic chopped
  • 1 tsp of coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp of cummin powder
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 tbsps lemon juice
  • 1 bunch of coriander leaves
  • 4 deseeded green green chillies

Procedure
  1. Make a paste from the ingredients mentioned under the green curry paste.
  2. Saute the mushrooms and potato in oil. 
  3. Add the paste to it. Then add the soy sauce. Stir it and add the coconut milk.
  4. When the mixture comes to a boil add the bok choy leaves.
  5. Add salt as required and cook until the leaves are wilted off.
  6. Serve hot with cooked jasmine rice.
